How I know Ford
Undergraduate research mentor
I started in neuroscience as an undergraduate in Ford's lab, where I was first introduced to the rat barrel cortex, and I owe finding my passion for research to him. I also found my love of reading science papers in a seminar class he taught.
Work highlights
- Direct and transcallosal induction of touch memories in the monkey
- A physiological basis for a theory of synapse modification
- Somatic sensory responses in the rostral sector of the posterior group (POm) and in the ventral posterior medial nucleus (VPM) of the rat thalamus
- Experience-dependent plasticity in adult rat barrel cortex
- Modulation of receptive field properties of thalamic somatosensory neurons by the depth of anesthesia
