How I know Anna
Research mentor, Vanderbilt (2009–12)
I worked with Anna Roe as a research assistant at Vanderbilt after my undergraduate studies there. She was a pioneer of intrinsic signal optical imaging (coming soon), and her work spans vision and touch, studying the cortical column (coming soon) as a common structure across sensory cortex. I learned a great deal from her about the fundamentals of imaging, and I'm grateful for the freedom she gave me to pursue optogenetics with artificial dura and optical windows in monkeys.
Work highlights
- Experimentally induced visual projections into auditory thalamus and cortex
- Visual topography in primate V2: multiple representation across functional stripes
