Neuron

A neuron is a special type of cell: a brain cell.

Part of an early, unfinished explainers project: very much under construction.

The short version

Just as there are skin cells, blood cells, or plant cells, a neuron is a brain cell: the brain and nervous system are made up of neurons (among other cell types). A neuron has a cell body, an axon, and dendrites. And it can have one big event that sends a signal to other cells: the Action Potential.
